Our big German Friend! Dufter! :-)

Along our lives we meet a lot of people. Some of them are very close to you for a certain time and then you can loose the contact for a while, but when you meet them again you have the feeling that it was yesterday that you talked with him/her for the last time. And, today I am writing in English because I want that my new and old friends to be able to understand this post too.

In 1999 I met some people from Mainz. They went to Brazil for an exchange program and it was the opportunity for me to speak German again, because my English was (and still is) bad. John (one of my German friends) always said that there are two types of English, British and American, but after he met me a third one was born, Jerusa’s English. Fortunately, he and all German colleagues from the exchange program were really patient to communicate with me.

When I came for my first exchange program in Germany, John picked me in Frankfurt up and introduced me to the entire group in the university. Everybody helped me a lot during this 3 months period in 2000. I would to tell you about an event that was very important for me. They organized a birthday party for me, and they touch my heart because they made the cake themselves. I will never forget that, it was my first time outside Brazil and my German colleagues were really nice with me. I had a nice feeling, because before I left Brazil I was really worried about the language, the people and many other things. Although there wasn’t much contact after that, I came back to Germany in 2002 and it was very nice to meet them again.

After all this time I never lost the contact with John. Actually during my two first weeks at my new work I stayed in Mainz, and after all of this history, I think you can guess where… yes, at John’s place. And this post is to say thanks to John and his family. John is a very nice person and his family too, they gave me a lot of support and “carinho” (I don’t know how to write it in English) during the time I spent with them. Marco was with me at John’s family during weekends and he felt the same. Our blog is the place where we put some comments about our life and emotions, and to communicate with our family and friends. Therefore, it is the place to tell about some very special people for us, like our big German friend (almost 2 m of a friend!) and his family. Wir wollen ganz herzlich danke schön sagen!
